MYSTERIOUS MINIMAL NEOCLASSIC AMBIENT: not exactly a catchy name for a new music genre, but it’s a fitting description of the new Suntapes album.

The 8 instrumental tracks on the album are atmospheric as usual but more electronic and cinematic then on Hunting for hills. I’ve used some of my favorite instruments such as the harmonium, the slide guitar and a bunch of analogue synths and effects to create these layers of sounds and slow evolving melodies. The acoustic piano is still a fill rouge in a lot of tracks, whether in a manipulated way like in Bokeh and Susumu or in a melodramatic way such as Floating and Attic.

SHADOWS OF NAGI
For many years I have been really inspired by the quirky character of landscapes in Japanese cities and countryside. I find myself dreaming away in images I took in Japan quite often. I even use them as a backdrop when composing and recording. I also listen a lot to the mellow vibes of Japanese composers such as Susumu Yokota, Yusuke Tsutsumi, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Meitei and Haruka Nakamura. I guess and I hope there will be some influence of their music in what I record. Please enjoy and let yourself get taken away.

I’ve been releasing 3 singles of this album the last few months. They’ve had a good amount of streams so far. The tracks have been mainly recorded in 2019, so I’m really happy to finally present the whole story: the full album Shadows of Nagi. Listen on repeat on your favorite streaming platform or buy on iTunes.
